WATER

Water is an essential part of life on the Surf Coast. Our coastline and waterways are cherished by our local residents for their recreational and environmental values, and our water systems play a vital role in our hinterland agricultural production.

Surf Coast Shire Council is committed to working with our local and regional partners on best practice water management. In partnership with Barwon Water and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), Council recently delivered the Winchelsea Integrated Water Management Plan. This plan explores the township’s vision and how it is linked to the challenges and opportunities presented through the water-cycle. Council also works with local community groups to improve the health of our waterways, through weeding, restoration and planting initiatives.
